As a new single mother, my heart pours out to other mothers who are working diligently to balance their families, careers, and finances.  I must admit, it has not been easy.  It is almost impossible to be a successful mother alone.  I am thankful for the support I have received from my family (thanks a million mom) and friends in regards to helping me with the things I need for my daughter, Christina.  After having a beautiful baby shower and receiving tons of gifts.  I was faced with making my first baby purchases after only 10 weeks—these purchases included diapers and baby wipes.

The cost of diapers can be overwhelming since babies tend to go through 7-8 diapers a day, which averages more than 56 diapers a week and over 200 per month.  The Huggies brand, I personally purchased costs $9.87 for only 36 diapers.  I know there are dozens of other brands but even the least expensive brands can range from $5.50-$7.00 per package.  To put it simply, the average cost of diapers for one year is $1,000.00 per baby.

According to the 2008 U.S. Census survey, it states that there are over 13.6 million single mothers in the United States.  Out of every 100,000 households over 7,500 consist of single mothers.  Since this number continues to grow daily, single mothers are faced with the challenge of providing the basic necessities for their households alone.  Purchasing diapers is not an option.  It is as essential as breathing.

For those of you who know me personally, you know my heart is always centered in ‘giving back.’  If you have ever experienced or if you are currently experiencing obstacles, the best way to get back on top is by helping someone else.  Although I am a single mother with my own personal issues, nothing will bring me more pleasure than having the opportunity to help other mothers alleviate at least one area of stress in their lives.

My company, Correlations, LLC has partnered with CORPorLLC to raise awareness about the growing number of single mothers and to collect money and/or diaper donations.   We need your help to make this endeavor a success!  You can help today by simply donating $1.  If you are in the Atlanta area, you are invited to attend our Women’s Empowerment Dinner Party on October 24th with a donation of $20.  All donations will be given to the Atlanta Children’s Shelter and a Wellstar hospital in December to help single mothers with diapers during the Holiday Season.

Thank you in advance for making “Dollar For A Diaper” a remarkable success!

With faith & love,
